Fall Time Cozy Time Tag!

Hello fall friends! On this lovely Friday, I am bringing you a book tag! This one was created by Sam’s Nonsense on Youtube! It is all about fall-ish things (which are my favorite things)! So grab your cozy sweater and your pumpkin spice latte and let’s get into some books!
  1. Crunching Leaves: The world is full of color - choose a book that had reds/oranges/yellows on the cover
I’m going to go with Crown of Midnight (because what would this post be without mentioning Queen Sarah J. Maas?)!
  1. Cozy Sweater - It's finally cold enough to don warm cozy clothing: what book gives you the warm fuzzies?
Simon vs. The Homosapien’s Agenda is so cute and thinking about it makes me so happy! If you are looking for a fun, cutsie contemporary, I would highly recommend!
  1. Fall Storm: The wind is howling & the rain is pounding - choose your favorite book OR genre that you like to read on a stormy day
I always love reading fantasy on cold, rainy days. Something about a good dark fantasy just fits with stormy weather!
  1. Cool Crisp Air: What's the coolest character you'd want to trade places with?
I would love to be a Night Circus performer for just one night! I want to see the circus and the people there! I want to feel the magic! It would be so awesome!
  1. Hot Apple Cider: What under hyped book do you want to see become the next biggest, hottest thing?
The Night We Said Yes by Lauren Gibaldi should be way more popular than it is! It is a cute contemporary centered around old friends, music, and saying yes to everything for one night!
  1. Coat, Scarves, and Mittens - The weather has turned cold & it's time to cover up - What's the most embarrassing book cover you own that you like to keep hidden in public?
Whenever I read vampire books basically! I only read Vampire Academy at home because I don’t want people to see the trashy covers! I also want to start reading Twilight, but I know I will get so much hate for that one!
  1. Pumpkin Spice: What's your favorite Fall time comforts food/foods?

Basically anything pumpkin! Pumpkin bread, pumpkin lattes, pumpkin gingersnaps, pumpkin pie… You name it, I’ll probably bake it!
What under hyped book do you think I should read? Comment your recommendations down below!

Fall Bucket List

My favorite season is finally here! It’s the time for warm drinks, going outside, taking scenic drives, and pumpkin EVERYTHING! There are some things I have to do every fall, like apple picking or hiking, so I made a “Fall Bucket List” for all the things I hope to accomplish this season!
  1. Make Pumpkin Bread! I have this killer pumpkin bread recipe and I could probably live off of this stuff! I’m going to be sharing my favorite pumpkin recipes sometime next week, so stay tuned if you want to know how to make that bread!
  1. Go to the apple festival! There is an apple festival in October in north Georgia and I go every year! It is so much fun! It’s like a fair combined with an art festival and EVERYTHING is apple themed!
  2. Wear a blanket scarf! I have so many blanket scarves and I love wearing them! They are so comfy and cool! I really hope it gets cold enough that I can wear one! (I’ll probably still wear one even if it’s 90 degrees out!)
  3. Read a Scary Book! I have never read a straight up mystery/ suspense novel, so now is my time! I think I might read Night Film by Marisha Pessl!
  1. Go to a football game! Probably just a high school game for me, but I love football!
  2. On a sort of related note, have a tailgate! We always have one at my church where there is a chili cook off and it is so much fun!
  3. Make pecan pie! I love baking pies and my favorite kind is pecan! It reminds me of my grandfather, who always requests his made with pure cane syrup instead of karo!
  4. Read Outside! I love reading and I love outside- so why not spend a day reading outside!
  5. Go hiking! There are so many good trails where I live and the colors are so beautiful this time of year!
  6. Lastly, watch Riverdale! It comes back next week and I am so excited!

What’s on your bucket list this fall? Comment down below because I would love to hear from you!

Top 5 Standalone Fantasy Novels

When I think of fall, I think of curling up on a cold day with a good book, a cup of tea, my cat, and my apple scented candles! I love reading fantasy during the fall, there’s just something about the dark atmosphere that makes me think of colder weather! But, sometimes, I don’t want to dive into a 6+ book fantasy series, so I have started reading some more standalone fantasy. Here is my compiled list of the best of YA Standalone Fantasy!
  1. Book of A Thousand Days by Shannon Hale.
When Dashti, a maid, and Lady Saren, her mistress, are shut in a tower for seven years because of Saren's refusal to marry a man she despises, the two prepare for a very long and dark imprisonment. As food runs low and the days go from broiling hot to freezing cold, it is all Dashti can do to keep them fed and comfortable. With the arrival outside the tower of Saren's two suitors--one welcome, the other decidedly less so--the girls are confronted with both hope and great danger, and Dashti must make the desperate choices of a girl whose life is worth more than she knows. With Shannon Hale's lyrical language, this little-known classic fairy tale from the Brothers Grimm is reimagined and reset on the central Asian steppes; it is a completely unique retelling filled with adventure and romance, drama and disguise.
  1. Fire by Kristin Cashore. (The companion novel to Graceling, but it can be read alone)
It is not a peaceful time in the Dells. The young King Nash clings to his throne while rebel lords in the north and south build armies to unseat him. The mountains and forests are filled with spies and thieves and lawless men. This is where Fire lives. With a wild, irresistible appearance and hair the color of flame, Fire is the last remaining human monster. Equally hated and adored, she had the unique ability to control minds, but she guards her power, unwilling to steal the secrets of innocent people. Especially when she has so many of her own. Then Prince Brigan comes to bring her to King City, The royal family needs her help to uncover the plot against the king. Far away from home, Fire begins to realize there's more to her power than she ever dreamed. Her power could save the kingdom. If only she weren't afraid of becoming the monster her father was.
  1. Uprooted by Naomi Novik
Agnieszka loves her valley home, her quiet village, the forests and the bright shining river. But the corrupted Wood stands on the border, full of malevolent power, and its shadow lies over her life. Her people rely on the cold, driven wizard known only as the Dragon to keep its powers at bay. But he demands a terrible price for his help: one young woman handed over to serve him for ten years, a fate almost as terrible as falling to the Wood. The next choosing is fast approaching, and Agnieszka is afraid. She knows—everyone knows—that the Dragon will take Kasia: beautiful, graceful, brave Kasia, all the things Agnieszka isn’t, and her dearest friend in the world. And there is no way to save her. But Agnieszka fears the wrong things. For when the Dragon comes, it is not Kasia he will choose.
  1. Carry On by Rainbow Rowell (Read my full review!)
Simon Snow is the worst Chosen One who's ever been chosen. That's what his roommate, Baz, says. And Baz might be evil and a vampire and a complete git, but he's probably right. Half the time, Simon can't even make his wand work, and the other half, he starts something on fire. His mentor's avoiding him, his girlfriend broke up with him, and there's a magic-eating monster running around, wearing Simon's face. Baz would be having a field day with all this, if he were here — it's their last year at the Watford School of Magicks, and Simon's infuriating nemesis didn't even bother to show up.
  1. The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern (Read my full review!)
The circus arrives without warning. No announcements precede it. It is simply there, when yesterday it was not. Within the black-and-white striped canvas tents is an utterly unique experience full of breathtaking amazements. It is called Le Cirque des RĂªves, and it is only open at night. But behind the scenes, a fierce competition is underway - a duel between two young magicians, Celia and Marco, who have been trained since childhood expressly for this purpose by their mercurial instructors. Unbeknownst to them, this is a game in which only one can be left standing, and the circus is but the stage for a remarkable battle of imagination and will. Despite themselves, however, Celia and Marco tumble headfirst into love - a deep, magical love that makes the lights flicker and the room grow warm whenever they so much as brush hands. True love or not, the game must play out, and the fates of everyone involved, from the cast of extraordinary circus performers to the patrons, hang in the balance, suspended as precariously as the daring acrobats overhead.

Top Picks Tuesday | October 3, 2017

Can you guess what today is? Sure it’s Tuesday, but that’s not all! It’s Top Picks Tuesday! I haven’t done one of these in 2 weeks, so I have a lot of good stuff to share with you!
Before we get into this, this past week has been one of the worst weeks of my life. I was stressed and mourning and at some point I just stopped caring. I got a lot of bad news and had a lot to do (but didn’t do any of it, which made things worse), but I am working on getting back on track. All the things in this post either encouraged me during this time or helped me to take my mind of off things.
First, and probably most important, I finally watched Moana! I didn’t think I would enjoy it that much, but it was so cute! The story was really good and I loved the music! By the way, the chicken is my favorite character! If I was any Disney character, I would be HeiHei!
I fell in love with Come to Me by Bethel Music this week. I had always known it, but one day I was playing guitar and I found the tab for it. Since then, I have listened to it about 10 times a day! It brings me so much comfort and the song itself is absolutely beautiful!
I read The Night Circus last week and Oh My! It was amazing! I have fangirled about it in both the review and my monthly wrap-up, so I will keep this to a minimum. In short, it was one of the best books I have ever read and you need it in your life now!
2 Corinthians 1:3-7 has brought me a lot of peace lately. It talks about finding your comfort from God and has slowly become one of my favorite passages!
The Good Place Season 2 has been so good so far! I loved the first season and I didn’t think this one would be too good, but I was wrong! The story line is all over the place (in a good way) and I am really enjoying it so far!

What have you been loving this week? Comment down because I would love to hear from you!

October TBR 2017

A new month, a new TBR and y’all, I am so ready for October! It might actually start getting cold where I live, plus the leaves are changing and it is prime apple picking season! It also means I am in the mood for lots of dark books, which I am so here for! So, curl up with your cat, cup of tea, and a cozy blanket, and let’s get into my October to be read!
First, I need to finish Tower of Dawn by Sarah J Maas! I started it last month, but put in down in favor of
The Night Circus (which was fabulous by the way). I was really enjoying this one, but I just needed a
break. Now, I am ready to dive back into this story!
Then, I would love to reread Three Dark Crowns by Kendare Blake before I get into the second book, One Dark Throne, which just came out last month! These books are high fantasy following three sisters who battle to the death in order to rule their kingdom! It is so epic, with lots of political intrigue, plot twists, and an absolutely cruel cliffhanger! When I read the first book last year, I loved it, and I am so ready to see where this story will take me!
Lastly, I hope to read Night Film by Marisha Pessl. This book is a mystery/thriller novel that could not be more perfect for this time of year! It is about an investigation into someone’s death that brings the investigator into a dark and twisted world. Again, I have heard nothing but good things, so I am super excited to pick it up!
Well, it sure does seem like I have a cheery reading month ahead, with the dark and the night ;) . Nonetheless, I am so thrilled to be reading all of these books!

What books are you planning on reading this month? Comment below so we can chat about books! :)
